DETAILS

This is our final training ride for the Metric+ distance RACC route! We'll be doing a variation of the Salmon Creek to Battle Ground Lake Loop from a couple of weeks ago. From the Salmon Creek Starbucks, we head toward Battle Ground using lightly traveled backroads. After climbing the infamous Heart Attack Hill, we coast into Battle Ground before taking a break at the Battle Ground Skate Park (@ mile 16).

From there we ride a 14-mile loop around Battle Ground Lake featuring beautiful and surprisingly quiet roads... along with 800 feet of elevation gain. We return to the Battle Ground Skate Park for another break (@ mile 30).

We head back toward Salmon Creek via NE Onsdorff Blvd and NE 239th Street. We'll cross over I-5 via NW Carty Rd. then tackle a series of climbs up a few of Ridgefield's infamous ridges before returning to our starting point for a well-deserved post-ride coffee.

The pace for this ride is 14-16mph on the flats, slightly slower up the hills. If you're faster or slower than the posted pace, you're on your own!

This is a non-group ride, so if you're faster or slower than the ride leader you'll need to know the route! If you have a GPS bike computer (Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead, etc) you should download the route to your computer before the ride.

VBC members get free turn-by-turn directions when using the RideWithGPS app on their smartphone! Find instructions for using RideWithGPS on the Club's Resources page. We also have advice on repurposing an old cellphone to provide GPS Navigation on the Cheap.
