Blue Mountain Century Scenic Bikeway Annual Ride

Information on the Annual Blue Mountain Century Scenic Bikeway Ride
September 16th and 17th, 2023

This ride is a “supported” ride; the local bikeways committee wants to make sure that you have a great experience in our community, so we will be doing what we can to make it so!  We will be arranging for meals and water stops; arrange for community volunteers to deliver your needed items from one location to another and will provide a SAG Wagon to support you along the route all weekend!

We will be starting the official ride in Ukiah, so the “caravan from Heppner” will leave around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, 9/16 and the ride will have everyone staying overnight in Heppner with a great BBQ meal!  Sunday morning, 9/17, the ride will begin in Heppner and end in Ukiah.

Change in transportation for the ride:  For those of you who have participated in the annual ride every year, due to changes out of our control, there will no longer be a shuttle bus and trailer to transport everyone leaving from Heppner to Ukiah to start the ride.  All riders from Heppner will be participating in a caravan to Ukiah and we will join those meeting us in Ukiah to start the ride.  If you can carpool together and share the ride that would be great!

Meal Arrangements:  We will provide a list of the restaurants that are open for Dinner on Friday night, Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday for those who will be staying in Heppner; lunches will be ordered for Saturday and will be taken to the Vinson area where the lunch and water and rest stop will be.  A chicken and rib BBQ dinner will be provided in Heppner for Saturday night, starting at 6:00 p.m.

I WILL BE YOUR CONTACT FOR THIS RIDE.  You will want to email or call or text to my cell phone at 503/970-7226 if you need help facilitating arrangements for overnight stays to make sure we have enough rooms for everyone. You have the option of the Northwestern Motel and RV Park – 541-676-9167; the Gilliam and Bisbee Building Suites- check out rooms online at and/or call Kaley Patterson at 541-219-1662 and for those that want to bring an RV or tent at the Willow Creek RV Park check out or call 541-371-1456.  Everyone will be needing to make arrangements for an overnight stay on Saturday night in Heppner.

If you are meeting us in Ukiah on Saturday morning, please mark it on the form (we will meet at the Forest Service Office parking lot).   If you want overnight accommodations in Ukiah, please contact The Stage Stop Motel and RV Park at 541-427-3352.

Cost of weekend ride:   The cost of the ride has been raised to $250 due to costs being so high and includes Saturday Lunch, Saturday evening BBQ, Sunday Breakfast, SAG support, transportation, light snacks and facilities at rest stops.  All other meals and overnight accommodations are extra.

Friday Night Dinner and Saturday Breakfast:  A list of local restaurants and what they serve and their hours will be provided at a later date, so if you are staying in Heppner feel free to take your pick!  If you need information for Ukiah, please make a note on your registration.  You will pay the restaurant directly for these meals.

*Saturday Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner: For those of you who are staying overnight in Heppner on Friday night, there will be a Buffet Breakfast at “Gateway Café” on Saturday morning, from 6:30-7:30 a.m. at a cost of $15. Boxed lunches will be ordered for lunch.  If you have special dietary needs, please make a note so we can accommodate you.  A BBQ Rib and Chicken dinner with all the fixings will be provided, starting at 6 p.m.  Beer and wine will not be provided, but please feel free to bring your own.

Sunday Breakfast and Lunch: A breakfast buffet will be included as part of your ride cost.  More information on time and where and what will be served will be sent out closer to the event.   Sunday Lunch:  You will be on your own for lunch; there will be snacks at the rest stop “Cutsforth Park”; and we anticipate being in Ukiah between 12-1 p.m.
