If you like meandering and seeing fun stuff in Portland, this might be the ride for you.  If you are in a hurry or want a fitness ride, this is not a good choice for you. A PDXPERIENCE is to be savored...

What all do we ride and see?  Portland in BLOOM - Let's do this before the heat gets it!

Our PDXPERIENCE:  Ride over the I-5 Bridge through Expo (see how to ride MAX with your bike if you don't know) and follow a neighborhood greenway to the secret ped/bike bridge back over I-5. Then ride the protected-by-car-parking bike lanes on Rosa Parks to a noteworthy flower garden in the neighborhood.

Next we ride by a weird little treehouse, say hi to the goats (bring a quarter if you want to feed them) and then ride about a mile on the Going Street Bike Boulevard.  Last we bike through Alberta Park and past the Holman St tree house before we head to the Marine Drive bike path and back to Bike Clark County where the big question is:  Where do we have a bite and beverage?  I like Tap Union on 13th at Washington, just a few blocks away because they have good food/beer/citder and you can see your bike!  But I am open to YOUR ideas!

The route is HERE.

NOTE:
This route is Road Cycling 201 level in terms of speed, distance and terrain.  If you are new to riding in traffic, it may NOT be suitable for you.  We will ride some Neighborhood Greenways and a bike boulevard.  We will ride a protected bike lane.  But we will also be crossing the bridge twice and there will be some intersections that have traffic.  Nothing worse than Vancouver's same busy streets, but just so you are not surprised.

Notes:

Please arrive 15 minutes early to be a part of the announcements and safety briefing. Riders are expected to have read the Safe Riding Policyand be familiar with the Ride Style Definitions. Please direct questions to the ride leader or Road Captain. Helmets are required. Lights (front and rear), RoadIDs and cell phones are recommended.

Please make sure to print a ride cue sheet or download to your device. Maps are not provided.  Wait a few days for me to finish it.

Make sure your bike is in good working order. Riders should be able to maintain the stated pace. Please communicate with the leader if you decide to go off route or not return to the start.

Remember - we want to be awesome representatives for cycling and spread a love for our great sport locally by obeying all traffic laws and riding in a safe and courteous manner.Ride safely and have fun!
