Come join us on our 45th/54th Summer Unbirthday-Birthday Ride. 🥳 WAIT, WHAT??? We got to chatting and discovered one of us is turning 45 and the other is turning 54, so why not co-host a birthday ride on our favorite gravel trail?! Technically, the 31st is a little late for one and a little early for the other, hence the "Unbirthday", but it's close enough to celebrate both together. Been wanting to ride some gravel, but feeling a bit intimidated and aren't sure where to start? Come join us! This is a great trail to start on as there are no crazy climbs, no big chunky gravel, and you're never too far from civilization. Not to mention, it's an out and back so you can't get lost. Oh, and the best part.....no cars!!!! I've ridden this trail many times, and enjoy it each and every time I do. The last time I was out here with friends, we saw a porcupine scamper off into the bushes as we were riding past. How cool is that? You will also see numerous birds, the occasional deer, lots of farm animals, and if you're lucky....the white buffalo. Not to mention, the views of the river as you ride over the bridges are stunning! Please pack yourself a lunch and we'll stop in Pe Ell at mile 23 and sit at the picnic tables to eat. There's also a little store right off the trail in Pe Ell in case you forgot something. As far as tire size, I'd recommend at least 35's on your bike. The trail is pretty tame, but does get a bit rougher past Pe Ell, and if you plan to ride the metric, you're going to want something that can handle some rocks, sticks and dirt. It's about a 1.5 hr drive north on I5 to get there. You will also need a Discover Pass to park at the Chehalis trailhead and they do ticket if you don't have one.
