Hello VBC Members,
Remember that stunning ride on the Kalama River we did in September? It's back for an encore—just in time to see the trees transforming into their autumn glory!
This Saturday, join us for another unforgettable out-and-back adventure. The weather forecast is for a cool and dry day, making it ideal for cycling through a valley where the trees are actively changing into beautiful reds, golds, and oranges. You'll follow the lightly traveled Kalama River Road, where the beautiful autumn scenery will make every pedal stroke worthwhile.
The route is a classic, featuring plenty of challenging ups and downs as it gradually climbs toward our turnaround point. It's truly a chance to breathe in the crisp autumn air and take in some of the best fall scenery the area has to offer!
Route Details and The Challenge
- Route: 32.5 miles at the ride leader's pace (about 14 mph on flats and slower on hills).
- Challenge: About 2.7 miles before the turnaround, you'll tackle the route's main challenge: a steep 0.7-mile climb. Since it's an out-and-back, you'll get to conquer it again on the way home!
- Your Pace, Your Ride: You control your distance! If you prefer a gentler ride, you can turn around before the big climb. The changing leaves will look just as amazing!
- Starting Point: The ride starts only 30 minutes north of Vancouver just off I-5.
Ride Style: Go Your Own Way
This is a non-group, go-your-own-pace adventure. While we'll regroup at hilltops and scenic spots for those staying with the main group, faster and slower riders are welcome to set their own rhythm. Enjoy the ride, the quiet roads, and the breathtaking views at your leisure.
Don't miss this opportunity to experience a beloved VBC route surrounded by stunning fall colors! Sign up today and get ready for an unforgettable day of autumn cycling.
See you on Saturday!
