I found this story fascinating so I just had to share.
Cyclors are "sailors" who race in the America's Cup. Their job is to pedal bicycles to generate energy to move massive sails. Invented by team New Zealand, they were "... first used in the America's Cup ... in 2017 to devastating effect." The energy they generate is stored in hydraulic systems which control the boats sails. GCN reports they can pedal at 500 watts for over an hour.
