Looking for 50-70 mile loop
Author Last Post
Russell,

My 50+ mile loop goes from Vancouver over I-205 bridge, down to Oregon city – and back.

I return along east side of river through downtown Portland & up I-5 bridge.  Or, I cross the bridge at Oregon city, returning through Lk Oswego/SW Portland up I-5 bridge.

There are plenty of designated bike lanes to accomplish this, many are not near vehicles whatsoever.

While you will see a lot of homelessness firsthand, I have never had a problem.  I honestly find this much safer than going north.  When I go north, I experience tight lanes with little or no shoulder for bikes, big trucks, and even bigger negative attitudes towards cyclists.

I’ve organized VBC rides into Portland, and would be glad to organize more.

Hi all,

I am looking for advice and help for finding a safe 50-70 mile loop or out and back. A little climbing is fine, but ideally not a bunch. I go out in the hills behind Washougal for that. I've tried going North around where the RACC goes on some of those roads through Battle Ground etc, but the traffic, at least on some of the roads i chose was really unsafe because it was fast traffic and no shoulder. It doesn't have to start or end from anywhere particular, I can just drive to where it starts.

Maybe someone have a Strava route they can share or some advice for a safe route?

Thank you very much for any help!
