Dear Karin, While I understand your thoughts, I too have family who have destroyed their lives with alcohol. But I also have close friends who have suffered long and died horrible deaths with ALS. What large ride does not offer alcohol. You don’t have to drink it.
I’m riding this Saturday to support the ALS organization and all the wonderful support they gave my friend thru their illness.
I hope others will ride, support and help defeat this terrible disease.

Hello people we haven't met yet.
Phil and myself joined this spring but have yet to join all of you in a ride, although it is still in our sights for this Summer / Fall.
We will not be riding the Beers and Gears ride this weekend. Although ALS is a worthy cause, we don't want to support the free pass alcohol gets in our society, as we have seen family and friends struggle so much with it, last year resulting in a death from alcohol use disorder.
And on that happy note, we hope to join you soon on one of your team practice rides.
Enjoy your moments this Saturday!
