Just saw this blog about how to fix common bike noise.

Thought it was timely as yesterday we stopped to help a cyclist who lost the top screw of his bottle cage. The cage was flopping loose and hitting his crank – so he couldn’t
pedal (he didn’t have tools with him). A loose bottle cage is one of the problems the article talks about.
Figuring out the cause of noises or other odd things going on with your bike can save you from problems on the road. For example, one time I noticed my shifts were acting
werid. Some times it took two clicks to move the rear derailleur one gear. Then just after the last rest stop on the RACC metic, my cable broke and I was stuck climbing hills in my highest gears…
So if there appears to be something odd going on with your bike, don’t hesitate to ask others at the ride to help you figure out the problem.
