First I heard of this. Looks like in an attempt to make safety improvements for cars in 2018, safe access for bikes and pedestrians was sacrificed. The intersection was closed to north-south crossing for us. At least the problem is recognized and is going to be addressed.
Definitely will be a good thing for me as I need to go down St Johns or Andresen when I head south. Route 500 has always been a “divider" for both bikes and pedestrians. There are bike lanes but the busy intersections at Fourth Plain and 500 (with the SPUI lanes) make north-south travel there by bike uncomfortable.
Please provide input from the online survey and help them get it right.
