10-11-12 Ride

What is the 10-11-12 Ride? Well, it's a ride I started when leading rides in Pennsylvania for those getting started in biking or just wanting to learn more about bike handling and riding in light traffic. The 10-11-12 Ride is approximately 10 miles long, at no more than 11 mph, and starts promptly at 12 pm. It’s a flat route and is perfect for newbies, those returning to biking after a long absence, or if you’re just looking for a leisurely noon day ride. We will begin at the parking lot at the Pendleton Woolen Mills Store in Washougal (see directions below). We’ll ride the Captain William Clark Trail for about 6 miles or so and move onto some of the quiet and flat back streets of Washougal. Then back to the parking lot. The ride will be leisurely, easy, instructive and fun.

This is a group ride so all riders will stay together. No one is left behind and no one goes ahead.

Rider requirements:

  • Helmets are required on all VBC rides.
  • All riders need to sign the waiver/sign in sheet at the beginning of the ride.
  • Arrive 15 minutes prior to the ride to allow yourself time to prepare and sign in. The ride will leave at the time stated in the ride description.
  • Obey all traffic laws.
  • Stay with group.
  • Call or email me to let me know you’re coming (See contact info. below).

Other tips:

  • Bring along a bottle of water to stay hydrated.
  • Bring a tire pump, tools, and a spare tube.
  • Bring some cash. We might stop for refreshments.
  • Carry some sort of identification or create something with your name, address, an emergency contact, and medical problems or medications.
  • Riders under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

We ride unless it is 40 deg. or below or raining. Contact me at joblanco@me.com or call (610) 442-1165 and say you'll ride with me.
