River Maiden Show-n-Go

The VBC will be trialing a new class of rides for our weekend cyclists. These less-formal rides are called “Show and Go” for reasons that will become clear in a moment. The rides will start from our two most popular ride start locations; the Starbucks near Albertsons on 20th Avenue in Salmon Creek, and the River Maiden Coffee Shop on Devine.  These locations offer a number of route options that are readily available on the club website. Rides will start at 2:00 PM.  This start time is designed to not conflict other club rides and provide more options in regards to weather and club member individual’s schedules. These rides will not have a designated ride leader.

Here’s how it works:  Interested riders SHOW up at the time and date listed on the VBC ride calendar. They then decide among themselves on a route and a pace to GO. The group may sub-divide into a number of smaller groups to accommodate preferences in route, distance, terrain and pace.  Each group or sub-group will designate a “leader” who will take care of the Waiver and Release sheet duties and insure all riders sign-in.  As with all VBC rides, a Waiver and Release ride sheet is required, and all riders will need to sign-in. Club members are encouraged to bring signup sheets and route maps for the routes that they would like to ride.  After the ride, the sign-up sheets must be turned in to the Asst. Road Captain (Jim O’Horo).

If an approved Ride Leader is selected to lead a group or sub-group of five or more riders, and takes care of the sign-up sheet duties, he or she will earn one ride credit.  Remember: no sign-up sheet, no credit.

Try a Show and Go soon and see how you like it!

Start Time: February 24, 2013 @ 2:00 pm
Ride Leader: Dan Stanton
Pace: 12 to 14 MPH - Social pace (a few stops)
Style: Group
