West Side Rollers

Start at 10 AM from the Starbuck's at 14100 NE 20th Avenue in Salmon Creek (same start location as Friday ride).

Ride length will be approximately 29 miles rolling out to 319th Street (LaCenter I-5 exit), traveling on a few new roads, and some already known.  Quick regroup @ sculpture garden on NW 11th Avenue.

Regroup in Ridgefield downtown. Then back towards Salmon Creek via NW Carty, 259th Street, and almost the entire length of NE 29th Ave, with a wonderful hill climb up Mt. Vista, adjacent to WSU campus, and a fast coast downhill to coffee.

Pace will be a 16 -18 MPH on the flats and rollers (there are some nice ones), and slower on the few hills. No one left behind, but the ride group will be moving at a collective brisk pace on this fun ride. See Clay's 'Two Bridge Loop' if you prefer to ride at a more casual pace.

Ride may be cancelled because of rain, or possibly delayed 'til Noon with frost, ice and cold. Buddies List e-mail will provide the latest info.

Start Time: January 20, 2013 @ 10:00 am
Ride Leader: Dick Gordon
Pace: 16 to 18 MPH - Brisk pace
Style: Re-Group

Route Information

#0 - West Side Rollers

Do you like a few hills, some leg-stretcher straight-aways and great rollers?  Try this route.

From the coffee shop in town we ride north. The sculpture garden on NW 11th Avenue just past 299th St makes a dandy regroup at a little under 10 miles.  We then ride north to the La Center exit.  More great countryside and rollers on the back route to Ridgefield which is another good spot to regroup at about 16 miles.

Then back towards Salmon Creek via Hillhurst (yes, 'hill' is part of the name), Carty, 259th St, and almost the entire length of NE 29th Ave, with a wonderful hill climb up Mt. Vista, adjacent to WSU campus, and a fast coast downhill to coffee.  If "wonderful" is not exactly the word you'd use to describe the Mt. Vista climb, you can use the bypass option.  See the map and cue link for details.
