Wed. AM Earthquake Ride

Come on out and join us for this weekly, long time favorite VBC ride.  The route starts at the River Maiden coffee shop, goes west through downtown, then north into the Felida area, east on the Salmon Creek Greenbelt trail, and back south on Hazel Dell Ave and Columbia, ducks under the I-5 bridge, and climbs up Blandford.  Depending on who shows up, there may be some fast riders out in front, but your ride leader will strive to maintain a moderate pace (14 to 16 mph on the flats, slower on the hills).  Several re-groups are planned; no one intentionally left behind.  Plan on joining us for coffee and socializing afterwards.

Weather guidelines

If drizzle, we might ride
If rain, we hide
If frosty or icy, it's just too dicey
If snow, we say "NO!",
 --and then go to coffee!

Start Time: January 9, 2013 @ 10:00 am
Ride Leader: Bill Moyers
Pace: 14 to 16 MPH - Moderate pace
Style: Re-Group

Route Information

#0 - Earthquake
This route heads west through downtown Vancouver, then turns north along Lakeshore Ave to Ashley Heights and the Felida area. Coast down Felida hill to join the Salmon Creek Trail. Regroup at the rest rooms located at the softball fields. Return southbound via Hazel Dell Ave, Columbia St., duck under the I-5 bridge eastbound and near the end we climb Blandford hill.  Option 1 adds in a 7 mile loop along Salmon Creek Ave, past Pleasant Valley Elem. to 119th St.  Then a fun climb up Stutz Rd., and rejoin the main route on Hazel Dell Ave southbound.
