MiniQuake
The Mini-Quake ride is offered as a slower paced, shorter, and easier version of the classic Wed. AM Earthquake ride. If you are unsure about maintaining the pace or going the distance of the Earthquake ride, then this ride is right for you. The route is similar, though cutting the distance and reducing the hill-climbing. We ride through downtown, then north to Felida area, east on the Salmon Creek Greenbelt trail, south via Hazel Dell Ave. The timing is such that the two rides generally meet and re-group together at the restrooms at the Greenbelt ball fields. No one left behind.
Depending on how much you have left in your legs and lungs, there are 3 options available to complete the route:
- Climb Blandford (regular EQ route)
- Climb half of Blandford via Evergreen
- Skip Blandford and climb McLoughlin (or 16th St.) as the shortest, easiest route.
All options lead back to the River Maiden. Plan on staying around for coffee and socializing after the ride.
Weather notes: If raining or worse, ride leader will be there to hand out maps for those who want to ride anyway, and then will go directly to the coffee shop.

Route Information
#0 - MiniQuake
This route started as a shorter, easier option to the classic Earthquake route, but it is a great ride on its own. We ride west through town, turn north and coast down Felida Hill (whee!) onto the Salmon Creek Trail(paved). Restrooms and water available at the park ball fields. We're basically cutting distance and hill-climbing on this route, so we find a slightly different way out to the park and head south back to our stating point.
There are have 3 options to finish the route:
1. climb Blandford (same as EQ route)
2. climb half of it via Evergreen
3. skip it and climb McLoughlin instead (shortest, easier choice)
All options lead back to the River Maiden coffee shop.
