Hello, VBC Buddies.
I help organize tandem ride for students at the Washington State School for the Blind here in Vancouver. We dont have enough captains for a few rides coming up and since over 50% of our active captains are VBC members I thought I'd spread the word through the buddy network.
The 3 upcoming rides are:
1. This Wednesday July 11th we’ll ride with the school’s summer campers. There are 9 students signed up for our ride which will go from 1:30-3:30. Right now we only have 2 captains who can ride. We know the midday rides are tough to make for many of you. If you can break free for a couple of hours or don’t have work that day please consider some with fun in the sun with the WSSB tandem team.
2. Students in the school’s YES program are looking for captains to ride with the evening of Monday July 16th. . The ride will begin at 6:30 pm. We’ll be back to the school around 8:00.
Both of these rides leave from the school's parking lot just east of Old Main on 13th street. The school supplies the tandem for these rides - just bring your riding gear and some good cheer - if you havent volunteered before there is volunteer paperwork to fill out so you'll have to arrive a little early.
3. The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes called me this afternoon to see if we had captains/tandems available for a ride next Tuesday evening July 17th from 6-8pm in Portland (start/end near Oaks Park). For this ride we do need some captains with tandems.
If you are interested in captaining a tandem at any (all?) of the upcoming rides or want to find out more about the program send me an email or give me a call .
Appreciatively yours,
Steve
