bikes for sale
Author Last Post

Hi Joe,

I went to hot yoga this evening, and bumped into a Yoga buddy that I hadn’t seen in a while.  (Because I haven’t been there, not him!)  We talked about bicycling, and he said he wants to get a road bike, but doesn’t want to spend a lot of money.  He’s been looking on Craigslist, but afraid of buying junk.  He’s a mailman, soon to retire.  Really, super nice guy!

It was funny to come home and see your email with the bikes for sale.  I’m thinking maybe the gunnar, because I think he’s around 5’5” - 5’7”, but that’s just a guess – I haven’t really looked that closely.

If you still have both bikes – perhaps send me a pic of each of them, and I’ll send it over to him.

Thanks,

Ken

Subject: [VBC Buddies] bikes for sale

I thought I would offer these bikes to VBC members at a lower price before posting on Craigslist. I can provide pictures if you contact me directly. I can also provide platform pedals if desired. I am selling this bike to reduce my inventory (currently have 7 bikes and only need 3 – well maybe 4).

Gunnar Crosshairs 52cm crossbike ($450) - $400 for VBC members

This is a very well-built bike that can be used for commuting, road, gravel, or cross riding. It has front and rear eyelets, so it is even possible to do light touring (http://gunnarbikes.com/site/bikes/crosshairs/). It has a mix of components with Ultegra derailleurs and crank but Tiagra 2x11 shifters. Will accept larger sized tires (over 32mm). Bike was recently repainted using auto paint and clear coat in pastel pink. I can convert this to a full Ultegra 3x9 (6500 series) at no extra cost if desired – and the other bike has not already sold. The bike should fit someone 5’2” to 5’7”

GT All Terra Karakorum 56cm rigid frame ($300) - $250 or upgraded wheelset for VBC members

This is a classic frame that is very robust. It would make a great commuting, gravel, or loaded touring bike (has rear and front eyelets). Very stable and comfortable ride. The components have been upgraded from the original (see details below) and converted to drop handle bars – which many people find more comfortable than straight handlebars. A stem extender and high angle stem give the bike a very upright riding position (can be changed to a more traditional position if desired). The 30-32 gearing makes going up steep hills about as easy as it gets. Paint and decals are a little rough, but frame is in great shape. Should fit someone from 5’7 to 6’0”.
